Kool G Rap came through the Bay Area this past weekend to promote his latest project which is entitled 'U Can't Stop The Shine'. Now I realized that song is about 60 years old so there had to be another reason for one of Hip Hop's best emcees being in town. After digging around I discovered he's gonna be one of the principal people in an upcoming project called 'Five Families'.Veteran Bay Area producer Tone Capone is putting together a major project for Def Jam South. That's the new label from Def Jam which is headed by Scarface. The project will be a super group that includes some of Hip Hop's best mob style/gangsta story tellers. Thus far Scarface, Kool G rap and Nas are on board. I couldn't find out the other two artist that will complete the Five Families. I'm speculating one of them would have to be Ice T or Ice Cube. and perhaps one of the kids from Wu-Tang. Who knows.. I was still buggin' off the fact that Scarface is heading a new label launched by Def Jam. I wanted to know if Scarface was still a Rap-A-Lot artist. The answer is yes. He has one more album to do for Rap-A-Lot but in the meantime he'll be heading up things for Def Jam South. It's kinda like the situation that KRS One has where he's still a Jive Recording artist but he heads up A&R for Reprise Records in LA.

As for Kool G rap, he let folks know that he's working on a new untitled album which should be done within a couple of months. He's heavily involved in the Half Mil project which includes him, Noreaga, Mussolini and Cardan. He's also involved with Capone and his upcoming CNN project. And if that's not enough he's making lots of noise with this killer track he did with Mobb Deep.
